Dvorkovich called Japan a key partner of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region

Deputy Prime Minister reminded that bilateral trade between the countries increased by 15% for 6 months and totaled $8,4 bln.

KYOTO /Japan/, October 1. /TASS/. Japan is a key partner of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in the sphere of science and technologies, stated Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Arkady Dvorkovich in his statement at the International Forum of science and technologies (STS-forum) in Kyoto.

«Japan is a key regional partner and we are working hard on development of our cooperation. In this regards, the importance of the economic cooperation plan suggested by the Prime Minister Shinzō Abe cannot be underestimated», - he highlighted. Dvorkovich reminded as well that the bilateral trade between the countries increased by 15% for 6 months and totaled $8,4 bln.

«We particularly appreciate the cooperation in the sphere of science and technologies. This year Japan was a country-partner in organization of «Innoprom-2017» - it was a huge step in development of the relations», - added the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.

The basis for the economic development between Russia and Japan became an eight-point plan suggested by the Japan Prime Minister Shinzō Abe in May of the previous year. In particular, this document implies strengthening of the relations between two countries in the sphere of energy, small and medium-sized businesses, humanitarian exchange and tourism.
