From the 24th to the 16th of October experts of the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) assessed the main areas of work of the Kaluga pharmaceutical cluster during the on-site audit. It was held according to the methodology of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative and confirmed the highest level of the cluster management system, as well as the accordance of the results of activity with the leading world practices.
Executive Director of the Association «Kaluga pharmaceutical cluster» Irina Novikova highlighted: «During the whole period of documents preparation and the procedure of the audit we have been receiving support from the members of the cluster, their interest in improvement of its further work. Silver Label not only confirms the presence of the cluster management system, but demonstrates its high level, above all, to our foreign partners».
General Director of the JSC «Agency of Innovation Development – Center of the Cluster Development of the Kaluga region» Anatoly Sotnikov called this event magnificent and crucial: «Our cluster is the first in Russia to achieve this kind of a level. It really joined the club of the best European clusters, giving the way to other regions».

More than 750 clusters have been assessed by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ESCA) from 2008. The headquarters of the organization are situated in Berlin, Germany.
Only 5 clusters of the Russian Federation have received the Bronze Label for the last 2 years.
The activity evaluation of the Kaluga pharmaceutical cluster was held in comparison with the leading European clusters of the relevant profile according to 30 indicators.
